About
BACKSTORY
In the Spring of 2024, singer-songwriters Leroy Esparza and Eddie Cavazos came together with a simple idea: to write a children's album filled with original music and positive messages. What began as a conversation soon became The Backyard Bucketlist Bandits Band.
Leroy Esparza, a five -time Grammy nominee in Tejano music , is an accomplished musician and music educator. His background as a performer and a recording artist brings a wide range of musical influences to the group's song writing and production.
Eddie Cavazos, a two-time Catholic Music Awards nominee, brings more than 35 years of experience as an elementary music educator and an extensive background as a composer of choral music. With his skills as a songwriter and composer, Cavazos helps shape music which speaks to children without losing the musical substance adults can enjoy as well.
By the fall of 2025, Esparza and Cavazos had transformed their original ideas into Chasing Rainbows, the debut five-song EP from The Backyard Bucketlist Bandits Band. The project moves through rock, ballad, and blues influences while exploring themes of kindness, friendship, positive self-esteem, and perseverance.
Chasing Rainbows combines the songwriting and musical backgrounds of Esparza and Cavazos, with added arrangements by Josh Cavazos. Driven by guitar and catchy melodic riffs, each song is designed to have their own character.
Chasing Rainbows was recorded at Lost In Sound Studio in Helotes, Texas, and engineered by Dave Brown.
With Chasing Rainbows, The Backyard Bucketlist Bandits Band introduces a collection of original children's music built around musicianship, meaningful lyrics, and songs created for kids and people who listen alongside them.
